I am a scholar and teacher invested in creating vibrant and respectful spaces for intellectual growth and exchange. I grew up in Nassau, Bahamas and I am connected to multiple sites across the Atlantic world. My mother hailed from the Bahamian island of Eleuthera and my father was born in Colón, Panamá. I have lived in Panamá, Peru, Brazil, and France and I have conducted research in multiple countries in North and South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. My scholarship has focused on human and civil rights and the impact of the African diaspora in the Atlantic world. I am also interested in studying the lives of transnational intellectuals and performers and their imagined communities beyond national borders. I am committed to the celebration of the human spirit and the pursuit of a just world.
